GDC Paddar to have science stream from next session: Comr HED

Kishtwar:    Commissioner Secretary Higher Education Department, Talat Parvez Rohella, Saturday announced Science stream for the Government Degree College Paddar from next session.

The HED Commissioner was responding to the demands of locals during an extensive tour of Paddar area conducted to take stock of various ongoing developmental works and assess the infrastructural requirement of the higher educational institutions in the area. The Commissioner inspected the pace of work on the campus building of the college coming up at Rs 11.42 crore.

He was accompanied by Additional District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Mohammad Hanief Malik; Block Development Council Chairman Paddar, Arpan Singh; Block Development Officer Paddar, Abhay Indu Sharma; Tehsildar Paddar Major Singh; Principal GDC Kishtwar Anirudh Sharma; Principal GDC Paddar, Anil Khajuria; Assistant Professor GDC Kishtwar Faisal Mushtaq Kichloo; BMO Paddar Dr Raj Kumar, AEE PWD(R&B) division Paddar, Sanjay Rathore, besides several other PRI members.

He also inspected the progress of work on the 40 bed girl hostel block of GDC Paddar where work has been resumed after the COVID-19-unlock.

The Commissioner listened to the demands of locals, who sought full payment of compensation of land acquired for the college campus and its fencing to prevent encroachment.

In this regard, he issued on the spot directions to the concerned and asked for early resolution of their demands to facilitate uninterrupted construction of the College building for its timeline completion. He also visited the makeshift college building from where GDC Paddar is functioning since 2019.

Assuring sustained pace of work on the college building, the Commissioner informed that the building is being built under RUSA at an estimated cost of Rs1142.89 lakh, against which Rs 1.5 crore has been released till ending July 2020. He directed AEE PWD(R&B) Sub division Paddar to expedite the pace of work and complete it within prescribed timeline.

After a detailed review of the site, contour plan and setting timeline for each stage of work, he directed the R&B to immediately submit the DPR for the boundary wall.

The Public of Paddar also sought Girls Higher Secondary school for the area, timely completion of Hr. Sec. School building at Sohal, enhancing of the land compensation for the land acquired for various projects , adequate staff at the only Hr. Sec. School in the area at Atholi, among others.

After giving patient hearing, he assured that being the developmental Secretary of Kishtwar he will personally pursue all their grievances to ensure time bound redress of the same. He asked the BDC Chairman to monitor the quality and pace of work and report, if he observes any compromise in the quality and pace of execution.

Responding to the demand of the public, the Commissioner Secretary directed the Principal to start the science stream in GDC Paddar from next session. The AEE PWD (R&B) was directed to explore the suitable accommodation for the same.

Meanwhile, he also inspected the upcoming science block at the GHSS Atholi, the work of which has been stopped due to the unavailability of funds. He assured that the remaining funds would be released soon so that the work is completed at the earliest. He also inspected the construction work on the Sub District Hospital Atholi Paddar, which is going in full swing after the unlock. He directed ADDC Kishtwar for expansion of premises of under construction hospital building by acquiring the adjoining state land.
