Eid-ul-Adha arrangements reviewed in Bla, Kup, Handwara

Baramulla, Kupwara: Amid COVID-19 threat, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr G N Itoo Friday said a special mechanism has been formulated for smooth celebration of the forthcoming festival of Eid.

While reviewing various arrangements and measures put in place for ensuing Eid festivity, the DC said different aspects ranging from public health to Eid celebration shall be given due consideration.

He stressed for making extra ordinary arrangements during present circumstances so that public health is not compromised and exhorted upon the concerned officers to work in coordination and cohesion for implementing all the SOPs and guidelines in letter and spirit.

Meanwhile, DC said a special mechanism shall be devised after 27th of July so that people can purchase the essential items in a hassle free manner.

He urged the people not to panic as district administration has facilitated sufficient stock of essential commodities including rice, flour, LPG etc.

The meeting was informed that departments of Sheep and Animal Husbandry have procured 24000 sacrificing animals that shall be available at designated spots across the district besides 3.15 lakh poultry birds have also been facilitated as against the requirement of 2.5 lakh poultry birds in the district.

The meeting was also briefed that special magistrates and flying squads shall be deployed at several spots and locations to monitor the implementation of SOPs and guidelines to avert any kind of emergency.

Additional SP Baramulla, President MCB, Assistant Director FCS&CA, EO MC B’la, heads of various line departments besides representatives of Beopar Mandal Baramulla, Auqaf Islamia Baramulla and Auqaf Islamia Khanpora, and other concerned officers/officials attended the meeting.

In another meeting, District Magistrate (DM) Kupwara, Anshul Garg reviewed arrangements for ensuing Eid-ul-Adha celebrations across the district.

During the meeting, the DM designated Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars as duty magistrates in their respective jurisdictions and directed SSP Kupwara and SP Handwara along with Magistrates for ensuring adherence to social distancing and other SOPs.

Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Kupwara, SDM Karnah, Lolab and Tehsildars were directed to keep close liaison with local imams to avoid large gatherings.

The DM also directed Tehsildars, Assistant Director Food, Civil supplies  and Consumer Affairs(AD FCS&CA), concerned Executive Officer Municipal Committees, representatives of Legal Metrology and Food Safety Officer to keep liaison with police officers and conduct  joint market inspection to check profiteering, black marketing of essential commodities like, mutton, chicken, vegetables, fruits  besides others by traders.

He also directed the concerned officers to ensure uninterrupted power and drinking water supply during the festive occasion besides adequate supply of essential commodities including Rice, Atta, Sugar, Kerosene oil and LGP to the people in the district.

District Sheep Husbandry Officer was directed to ensure availability of livestock, animals for sacrifice and arrangement of special mandies in coordination with concerned Tehsildars.

In another meeting, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Handwara (ADC), Nazir Ahmad Mir reviewed arrangements put in place for smooth celebration of Eid-ul-Adha in Sub Division Handwara.

The ADC directed all concerned to provide maximum possible facilities to the public on the eve of the festival and asked for strict adherence to COVID-19 SOps, price stabilization and availability of quality goods including sacrificial Animals, poultry birds, vegetables, bakery items and other essential commodities across the sub division.

The ADC directed the concerned for the constitution of market checking squads to monitor rates of essential commodities and book erring shopkeepers.

The ADC gave directions to the concerned engineers to provide uninterrupted power and water supply during the holy festival period.
