Srinagar : Director Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Kashmir Bashir Ahmad Khan on Thursday said that punching of fingerprints on POS machines while drawing the ration for the months of July and August 2020 is not mandatory but punching of biometrics shall be compulsory from the month of September this year
Reacting to concerns raised by people of different walks of life over the biometric authentication on e-POS machines at the time of drawing ration amid COVID-19 pandemic the Director FCS&CA Kashmir said “while drawing the ration for the months of July and August 2020 punching of fingerprints on POS machines is not mandatory*. However, the machines will remain active in all the shops in case any beneficiary from another state/UT wishes to draw his/ her ration under “One Nation One Ration” card. The punching of biometrics shall however be compulsory from September, onwards for all the beneficiaries”
