Block Narsoo of Udhampur gets rural Haat

Udhampur: In an endeavor to provide market facility to farmers at their door steps, a newly established Rural Haat was Wednesday dedicated here to the people of Block Narsoo.

District Development Commissioner, Dr. Piyush Singh inaugurated the much needed facility.

In his inaugural address, the DDC said the main objective of establishing this haat/mandi is to give a market place to farmers where they can sell their local products at a competitive price. He added that establishment of Apni Mandi in the alignment of National Highway will prove boon for farmers and other stakeholders in farming community.

After inauguration of rural haat, the DDC interacted with local people and PRIs and reviewed   the progress of PM- Kissan, KCC and Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana(PMGSY) road Narsoo to Thanidhar. He urged upon the concerned officers to work with dedication and zeal   to meet   the set deadlines. He asked the officers to maintain the quality while executing the work and establish a close liaison with PRIs. He assured locals that their genuine demands would be addressed on priority. He further advised farmers to take maximum benefit of financial inclusion, extension and income doubling measures of Agriculture department and make judicious use of financial assistance provided through welfare schemes.

“The KCC is a revolutionary scheme through which they can maximize and double their income,” he said and called upon the officers to make their sincere and dedicated efforts to aware the farmer community about the KCC in their respective areas.

Later, the DDC also inspected the works of RDD executed under MGNREGA, SBM scheme in the Narsoo Block.

BDC Chairperson Sardaran Begum, Additional District Development Commissioner, Ashok Kumar, Chief Planning Officer, Rajeev Bhushan, Assistant Commissioner Development, Mushtaq Chowdhary, Chief Agriculture Officer, Satish Bhagat, Chief Horticulture Officer, Brij Vallabh Gupta, District Information Officer, Er. Sajad Bashir Somberia, Executive Engineer, REW, Bashir Sheikh, officers of concerned departments besides local representatives and public of the area were also present on the occasion.
