Kishtwar: District administration Kishtwar Tuesday discussed the composition and constitution of the District level Export promotion committee and the terms and references laid down by the J&K government for its working.
The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has ordered the constitution of the committee in each district to boost export of the local agriculture, handicraft and other export potential products.
In this regard, District Development Commissioner, Rajinder Singh Tara, held detailed deliberations with the District Officers of Agriculture, Horticulture, Handicrafts, Handloom, KVIB and others, here at a meeting.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pawan Parihar; Chief Agriculture Officer, T.K Atri; Chief Horticulture Officer, Mohd Iqbal Baba; District Lead Bank Manager, Nasir Hussain and Assistant Director Handicrafts were also present on the occasion.
The meeting listed the terms of reference laid down by the government and to be followed by the district Level Export promotion Committee.
The DDC informed that to identify potential export products of the district, the Committee would assess the benchmark baseline export performance of the district in current situation.
He reiterated that sub-groups would be created for each identified potential export product by involving the stakeholders.
A comprehensive District Level Export Action Plan to identify the bottlenecks and need for training and infrastructure development in the district for export of potential products shall be formulated at an earliest, said the DDC.
“The District level Export promotion committee will act as one point facilitator for export promotion at district level and report progress to Apex Level Export Promotion Committee, besides it shall update online DEPC Progress on the Monitoring Portal,” he added.
He added that due to presence of the both temperate and sub- tropical type of climate in Kishtwar, the district is best suited for the production of various type of agricultural and horticultural products having global demand.
He said a convergence approach among the various departments is required to promote the export of the products and the district level export promotion committee would help in bridging the gaps.
