Srinagar, Jammu: The Government on Tuesday informed that 608 new positive cases of novel Corona virus (COVID-19), 106 from Jammu division and 502 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 15258. Meanwhile 11 COVID-19 deaths have been reported from Monday evening to Tuesday late evening hours. Moreover, 181 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 36 from Jammu Division and 145 from Kashmir Division.
Eleven patients who died due to virus include a 90-year-old man from Pattan area of Baramulla, a 70-year-old woman from Lal Bazar, Srinagar, a 50-year-old man from Mirbazar, Kulgam, an elderly patient from Parraypora Srinagar, a 60-year-old woman from Budgam, a 54-year-old man from Fateh Kadal Srinagar, a 64-year-old woman from Dangerpora Srinagar, a 65-year-old male from Sangrama Baramull, an 85-year-old male from Sopore, a 74-year old male from Rawalpora Srinagar and an-85 year old male from Papchan Bandipora
According to the daily Media Bulletin on novel Corona virus (Covid-19), out of 15258 positive cases, 6540 are Active Positive, 8455 have recovered and 263 have died; 20 in Jammu division and 243 in Kashmir division.
The Bulletin further said that out of 528946 test results available, 513688 samples have been tested as negative till July 21, 2020.
Additionally, till date 336315 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 38016 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 11 in Hospital Quarantine, 6540 in hospital isolation and 42779 under home surveillance. Besides, 248706 persons have completed their surveillance period.
Providing district-wise breakup, the Bulletin said that Bandipora has 478 positive cases (including 14 cases reported Tuesday) with 121 Active Positive, 352 recovered (including 01 case recovered Tuesday) and 05 deaths; Srinagar has 3283 positive cases (including 213 cases reported Tuesday) with 1961 Active Positive, 1253 recovered, 69 deaths; Anantnag district has 1097 positive cases (including 26 cases reported Tuesday), with 363 Active Positive, 716 recovered (including 08 cases recovered Tuesday), 18 deaths; Baramulla has 1651 positive cases (including 28 cases reported Tuesday) with 674 Active Positive, 922 recovered (including 16 cases recovered Tuesday), 55 deaths; Shopian has 1168 positive cases (including 03 cases reported Tuesday) with 365 Active Positive, 784 recovered and 19 deaths; Kupwara has 965 positive cases (including 47 cases reported Tuesday) with 362 Active Positive, 588 recovered (including 44 cases recovered Tuesday) and 15 deaths; Budgam has 948 positive cases (including 83 cases reported Tuesday) with 449 Active Positive and 480 recovered cases (including 50 cases recovered Tuesday) and 19 deaths; Ganderbal has 307 positive cases (including 06 cases reported Tuesday) with 177 active positive cases and 126 recoveries (including 03 cases recovered Tuesday) and 04 deaths; Kulgam has 1186 positive cases (including 39 cases reported Tuesday) with 297 Active Positive and 864 recoveries (including 03 cases recovered Tuesday) and 25 deaths and Pulwama reported 1042 positive cases (including 43 cases reported Tuesday) with 494 active positive cases and 534 recovered (including 20 cases recovered Tuesday) and 14 deaths.
Similarly, Jammu has 651 positive cases (including 15 cases reported Tuesday) with 199 active positive cases and 440 recoveries (including 03 cases recovered Tuesday) and 12 deaths; Udhampur has 367 positive cases (including 03 cases reported Tuesday) with 67 active positive cases, 299 recovered and 01 death; Samba has 340 positive cases (including 10 cases reported Tuesday) with 163 Active Positive and 176 recoveries and 01 death; Rajouri has 439 positive cases (including 37 cases reported Tuesday) with 318 active positive cases and 119 recovered and 02 deaths; Kathua has 386 positive cases (including 13 cases reported Tuesday) with 116 Active positive and 269 recovered (including 18 cases recovered Tuesday) and 01 death; Kishtwar has 90 positive cases with 61 active positive cases and 29 recovered; Ramban has 419 positive cases (including 11 cases reported Tuesday) with 183 active positive and 236 recoveries (including 05 cases recovered Tuesday); Reasi has 86 positive cases (including 08 cases reported Tuesday) with 41 active positive and 45 recovered; Poonch has 155 positive cases (including 02 cases reported Tuesday) with 28 active positive and 126 recoveries (including 01 case recovered Tuesday) and 01 death while Doda has 200 positive cases (including 07 cases reported Tuesday) with 101 active positive cases and 97 recoveries (including 09 cases recovered Tuesday) and 02 deaths.
According to the bulletin, of the total 15258 positive cases in J&K 3536 have been reported as travelers while 11722 as others.
The Bulletin said that the breakup represents districts from which the patients have been traced or are ordinarily residing.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metre from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene.
As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
The bulletin again explained that early detection of COVID-19 can prevent the spread of disease so we need to be responsible for the well-being of ourselves and everyone around us. “Not disclosing symptoms could put life of individuals and their families at risk. In case of symptoms like fever, cough and difficulty in breathing report early. Do not fear, call COVID-19 helpline numbers and seek medical advice”.
Advisory has further exhorted upon the people not to step out of home, unless absolutely necessary. “If you have to move out for unavoidable reasons, ensure that you wear a mask and practice social distancing, personal hygiene and frequent handwashing with soap and water.”

Public is advised to strictly follow the advisories issued by the government from time to time and rely only on the information released by the government through the daily media bulletin to print and electronic media.
