Jammu: Director Jammu and Kashmir Innovative Foundation For Transforming Society(JKIFTS) Dr Tasaduk Hussain Itoo Saturday said that attacking the healthcare professionals who perform their duties is a grave issue of concern and needs serious attention from the concerned Government.
He said that healthcare professionals working in the hospitals are constantly being targeted without having any fault of them and unfortunately this is growing as a menace especially in the tertiary care hospitals.
Strongly condemning the attack on some resident doctors who were performing their duties in SMHS Hospital Srinagar yesterday, Dr Tasaduk said that such incidents of violence against healthcare professionals have become routine in the hospitals and no one is seriously taking note of them.
He said that Government must provide adequate security protection to healthcare professionals working in the hospitals in order to deal effectively with such violent incidents.
“There is a dire need to formulate legislative laws that are specifically designed to handle the incidents of violence against healthcare professionals”, he said.
He urged the concerned heads of the hospitals to take serious incident notices of such violent acts and the culprits involved should be brought to justice.
“Government should provide adequate resources to the hospitals to ensure proper redressal of patient related affairs”, he added.
