Srinagar: A residential house and dozens of shops were damaged in a massive landslide in Kangan Tehsil of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Friday, official said.
Officials said a landslide occurred at around 12 PM today on Srinagar-Leh highway at Bunibagh Kangan, six kilometers away from the main market.
The landslide caused massive damaged to the residential house and dozens of shops.
Following the incident, Sub District Magistrate (SDM) Kangan, Hakeem Tanveer Ahmad along with Police officials visited the spot to assess the damage.
However, BRO, SDRF, Police and Army were pressed into the services to clear the Highway. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal, Khalil Ahmad Poswal said that no loss of life or injury was reported in the incident.
He said that the house belong to Ghulam Muhammad Mir, son of Haji Ghulam Hassan Mir of Banibagh area of Kangan while as the shops belong to Ali Mohammad Mir.
SSP said that further damage is being assessed by the officials.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal said that the men and machinery have been pressed to clear the highway from the debris
