Kupwara Admin distributes Rs 1.68 crore among workers

Kupwara: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Kupwara, Nazir Ahmad Lone Thursday distributed cheques worth Rs.1.68 crore among 1673 beneficiaries of construction workers at a function organized by the Labour Department here.
On the occasion, the ADC said the Labour Department provides financial assistance to the registered construction workers for their socio-economic upliftment.
He said a total 1673 cases have been sanctioned with a financial assistance of Rs.1, 68, 26,884 during the current financial year so far by the department.
He added that these cases include 12 death cases, 3 cases of higher education, 3 chronic disease assistance cases, 23 medical assistance cases and 1632 lower education assistance cases.
The Assistant Labour Commissioner informed that the department is holding awareness programs from July 21 for construction workers at block level where on spot renewal of labour cards shall also be conducted under the guidance of JKBOCWW Board.
