Srinagar: In its efforts to provide relief to the Handcraft dealers, Directorate of Handicrafts has evolved a mechanism to ensure hassle free processing of fresh and renewal cases under the Tourist Trade Act 1978  keeping in view the set protocols of Covid-19.

As per an official press statement, the Directorate of Handicrafts has informed all the handicraft dealers that as per the provisions of Tourist Trade Act 1978, it is mandatory for every handcrafts dealer carrying on the business in the notified tourist areas of Jammu and Kashmir, to get their business establishments registered with the apex body and those already registered to renew their certificates immediately.

The statement further read that with the gradual countrywide unlocking, and opening up of the trading activity all over the union territory, it is high time, that the handicraft dealers rise up to the occasion, and ensure that the business of handicrafts is conducted strictly in accordance to the provisions of the said Act.
