Two persons die while cleaning a well in Kupwara village

Srinagar : Two persons including a ward member died while cleaning a well in Chalgund Halmatpora area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday afternoon.
Locals said two persons died inside a well and later were retrieved by a joint team of Police, SDRF and locals at Chalgund Halmatpora village.
They said that they fell unconscious while cleaning a well at Ganai Mohalla in Halmatpora following which a police team was rushed to the spot. “Later the duo was retrieved by a joint team of Police, SDRF and locals after hectic efforts.”
The deceased have been identified as Ghulam Nabi and Mahad Ganaie-both residents of Chalgund Halmatpora. Ghulam Nabi was also a ward member.
Block Medical Officer (BMO) Kupwara, Dr. Zaffar Akbar said the duo was brought dead to the hospital and further medical procedure was underway and a postmortem will also be conducted
