Justice Magrey for providing composite accommodation facilities to Judicial Officers

Srinagar:  Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, Judge Jammu and Kashmir High Court Saturday visited District Court Complex, Mominabad, Srinagar to take review of functioning of District and other subordinate courts in Srinagar.

Justice Magrey who is the Administrative Judge for District Srinagar during his visit chaired a meeting of Judicial Officers, Prosecution Wing including Chief Prosecuting Officers.

While addressing the meeting, Justice Magrey said composite types of residential accommodation having proper security arrangements, facilities like gym, sports, and health care and entertainment facilities shall be provided to all judicial officers for their safety and comfortable stay. He said no Judge shall be allowed to work in a situation where he/ she are not comfortable. He said security and safety of judicial officers is of prime importance and all their issues related to their accommodation shall be taken into consideration on priority.

At the outset, Justice Magrey emphasized upon all to comply with the health advisories and SOPs issued by the Government of J&K and the High Court to ensure smooth functioning of the Courts without compromising with the health and safety of the Judges, Lawyers and litigant public.

He stressed upon the Judicial Officers to make massive use of technology to reach out to the litigants through virtual mode also so as to ensure that there is access to justice. The cases which are old and fixed for arguments have to be given priority, so that there is no long wait for the parties.

While interacting with the Prosecution Wing, Justice Magrey reviewed the working of the Criminal Justice System in the District and emphasized the availability of Public Prosecutors in every Court. He gave direction to the Director Prosecution to ensure that a permanent Public Prosecutor is posted in the TADA Court, so that there is no inconvenience in hearing the cases of under-trials.

Later, Justice Magrey also visited the Court Rooms and emphasized upon maintaining social distance during the Court work at all levels. He also instructed the Dy. Commissioner, Srinagar to coordinate with the Government to sort out the accommodation issue of the Judicial Officers posted at District Srinagar and particularly officers.

Principal District & Sessions Judge, Srinagar Abdul Rashid Malik gave a presentation before Justice Magrey with regard to the working of the Courts during the current Covid-19 Pandemic and the steps taken by the District Judiciary to ensure that there is full and since  adherence to the standard operating procedure laid down by the Government and  High  Court for functioning of Courts during the current situation. Malik praised  Chief Justice, the Administrative Judge and  Judges of the High Court for  the constant guidance to the District Judiciary Srinagar to ensure functioning of Courts  by using technology and empowering the Judicial Officers with the tools and techniques  including digital signatures, dragon software and computer systems etc.

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary was also present on the occasion who assured his full support to the District Judiciary to meet the challenges arising out of the Covid-19 Pandemic. Principal District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar appreciated the role of Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar in coordinating with the District Judiciary and extending full support to the District Judiciary to deal with the Covid-19 Pandemic and implementation of the Health Advisories.
