Moomin Ahmad Rather

Do you remember the last time you had a smile on your face? Not such a difficult question, but in a place where new crises and uncertainties arise every day, there are very few jovial moments left. But did you know that this general impression of smile not only makes the mood salubrious but also has other wonderful benefits. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Smiling in your brother’s face is an act of charity” (At-Tirmidhi). Amazingly, smiling is equal to spending in the cause of Allah, without having to pay even a penny. Ergo, smiling is very advantageous and of course the smile is the precious gift that differentiates son of man from animals. Generally there is a rationale why we like to smile–it releases feel-good neurotransmitters like endorphins, dopamine, and mood-enhancing serotonin that do a body a whole lot of good. Smiling is a formidable life lift when practiced daily and frequently. When we smile, the crises vamose. Ergo it is important to smile in crises. In a time where we are obligated to wear masks to cover our mouths and noses, the eminence of faces skyrocketed and so did the worth of smiling faces.Since the current situation has created havoc all around the world and snatched smiles from people’s faces, it becomes indispensable to comprehend and recall the benefits of smile in such affairs. Smiles helps us feel better physically and mentally:Our facial expressions have a profound effect on our mood. Emotions can make room in the brain, but the movement of our facial muscles changes feelings. According to some recent research reports, smiles enhance positive emotions or at least suppress negative emotions and make you feel happy. In this way, in the present times, we should try to improve our health by resorting to smiles. Smiling helps in stress reduction: According to research by University of Lansas, a smile reduces stress, which in turn slows down the heart rate, and a smile helps reduce the stress on our minds. In this way, it becomes easier to face difficulties during crisis by keeping oneself free from stress. Thus, even in the current crisis, we should try to reduce our stress by taking advantage of the smile. A smile makes us trustworthy: A smiling face is more trustworthy than a person who does not smile. According to a research by Petersburg University, a smile increases the attractiveness of the face. Research has also shown that the bigger the smile on the face, the more confident the person will look. Ergo natural smile helps to win confidence and trust of others.
Smile has healing effect and communicate message of love care and concern. It is an important tool to make people feel comfortable. So make it a habit to smile and bring a smile to the faces of others with your smile.
Smiles are better for mental training:The brain senses negative things more intensely. However, the habit of smiling helps our minds to be more positive and optimistic. According to a study, making a habit of smiling on a daily basis creates a feeling of happiness in our brain which promotes positive thinking.Smiles help others smile: Have you ever noticed that the other person starts smiling in response to your smile?According to a research, seeing a smile on the face of a friend, relative or even a stranger creates a wave of happiness in our heart and mind which is more powerful than smile acquired by money. A smile strengthens a relationship: People who laugh more are more likely to have successful marriages. This is because people who are accustomed to laughing and smiling are more optimistic, cheerful and emotionally stable, and these qualities lead to a healthy relationship. So if current crisis has affected your relationship, try to strengthen your relationship by reporting to smiling. A smile helps in office work:Spreading your lips for a while not only makes the mood in the office pleasant but also makes you a hardworking and good worker. According to a study, happiness is a factor that plays an important role in enhancing work efficiency in offices and we all know that positive emotions lead to success while negative thoughts bring them down. A smile makes you think creatively: Smiles light up the corners of the mind that are conducive to creative work.According to a University of California study, people who are accustomed to laughing and smiling are more likely to think of the best solution to problems. In fact, a smile releases a hormone called dopamine into the brain, which gives a feeling of happiness and increases a person’s ability to make decisions and analyze information. Smiles are absolutely free:If you want to reduce stress, strengthen relationships or brighten someone’s day, then smiles are the most effective strategy. Meanwhile we can do all this with a smile without paying even a penny. Social benefits of a smile: Smile connects us with others just as kindness. Most people find that smile is contagious. So, if you bring more smile into your life, you can most likely help others around you to smile more and realize these benefits as well. By elevating the mood of those around you, you can reduce their stress levels and perhaps improve the quality of social interaction you experience with them, reducing your stress level even more! In the same way, there are so many benefits of smile as well, but at the same time, it is important for us to know and understand that our smiles should be based on good reason, because smiling without a lucid reason sounds fake and irritating.Smiling upsurges our gratitude which is necessary for environment mastery and to live with utmost tranquility. We need to fathom appropriate occasions worthy of a broad smile otherwise we may peril our reputation by smiling at inappropriate junctures. Smile has healing effect and communicate message of love care and concern. It is an important tool to make people feel comfortable. So make it a habit to smile and bring a smile to the faces of others with your smile.
