CRPF man, militant killed in Srinagar gunfight: IGP Kashmir, “Operation on” , says IGP CRPF

Srinagar/July, 3: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) man and a militant were in the late evening hours on Thursday  killed in a gunfight  that raged between forces and militants in Malbagh area of Srinagar on Thursday evening.

Officials said the gunfight broke out in the evening at Malbagh area of Srinagar outskirts.

“#Encounter has started at #Malbagh area of  #Srinagar. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow,” Kashmir zone police tweeted.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir zone, Vijay Kumar said that a CRPF man and a militant were killed in the gunfight.

The operation, he said,  is going on in Malbagh area of Srinagar outskirts.

IGP CRPF, Pramod Kumar Pandey said the firing has been stopped while the search has been launched in the area.

Moreover, the identification of the slain militant was being ascertained, they said
