Rajouri/June, 28: A blocked drain near Government Degree College Thanamandi in Rajouri district has damaged the crops for the second consecutive year this year as authorities of PhD (R&B)  department are not taking up the construction of a road blocking the drain.

Locals told Kashmir Horizon “the drain on Shahdra Sharief road near GDC Thannamandi has blocked a drain for the second consecutive year this year as rains forced the outwards flow of water into fields that were blooming with standing crops”, adding that “the crops were badly damaged for the second consecutive year” blockfor last 2 years. Saying that “the major stretch of protection wall has been also damaged now”, the locals alleged that  PWD(R&B)   department which is also incharge of maintenance work of the said road is turning a deaf ear to the repeated public complaints on this count.
