Ang: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Anantnag, K.K Sidha Saturday distributed 15 motorised tricycles and laptops among specially abled beneficiaries during a distribution camp organized here in Mattan, Anantnag by Social Welfare Department.
While interacting with media persons, DDC complimented the Social Welfare Department for organising the distribution camp for Specially Abled Persons.
Sidha said motorised tricycles will empower the people with special needs and would include them in mainstream life besides he also distributed laptops among specially challenged students and advised them to get themselves equipped with soft skills and technology.
Later on DDC directed District Social Welfare Officer to coordinate with General Manager, District Industries Centre, Anantnag and organize special camps of sponsorship of PWD under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program.
DDC hailed the functioning of the Social Welfare Department and said the department has worked tirelessly during the pandemic and provided pension to 48000 pensioners in a time bound manner and added that the department has sanctioned 12000 new pension cases during lockdown, thereby reducing pendency at all time low.
The motorised tricycles were sponsored by J&K Rehabilitation Council, a govt organization which is at forefront in the empowerment of persons with disabilities.
Among others present on the occasion include Director Rehabilitation Council J&K, Ishfaq Ahmad Wani DSWO Anantnag, Superintendent MFI, Senior officers of district administration besides officials of Mahila Shakti Kendra and District and Tehsil Social Welfare officers.
