DC Budgam presides meeting on Poshan Abhiyan, directs for effective survey at grass roots

Budgam: A meeting to discuss modalities and issues under Poshan Abhiyan Mission was Friday convened here under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza.
The meeting discussed various issues related to sanitation cum drinking water facilities at anganwadi centers, procurement of food grains and IEC awareness campaigns.
While apprising the meeting about steps and initiatives taken under the Abhiyan, District Program officer ICDS said, that steps like sensitization program on Nutrition for children and pregnant ladies is carried out in all anganwadi centers across the District. He further added that all nutritious food items are served to the children through concerned centers.
He also said due to prevailing condition arised because of COVID-19 pandemic, Dry Food is being delivered at the doorstep of the public.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said, “It shall be our cumulative endeavor and desire to supply nutritious food at ICDS Centers.” The DC directed all concerned to formulate action plan within next three days and ensure that plan is implemented effectively and efficiently.
Meanwhile DC urged all departments to come forward and contribute in making Poshan Abhiyan a success in the district. In this regard, Department of ICDS, Health, RDD, Education, PHE, Municipality, CAPD and Social Welfare shall act at one Focal point to achieve the Aim and targets enshrined in Poshan Abhiyan scheme, the DC added.
The DC further directed ICDS authorities to keep close liaison with FCS&CA department while procuring supplies. He also said the priority shall be to provide nutritious and healthy food items to grow healthy physic of the child and lactating mother.
It is pertinent to mention that Poshan Abhiyan aims at curbing Malnutrition, anemia, low birth weight among Children and Pregnant ladies. While stressing upon carrying of effective survey, he directed ICDS Functionaries to take up this assignment on priority and ensure that survey on Malnutrition and anemia is conducted across the District.
The DC impressed upon the DPO ICDS to conduct awareness programs involving Aganwadi Centers while focus shall be on breastfeeding and providing hygienic mid-day meal, supply of safe drinking water, and clean sanitation across the district.
The meeting was also attended by District Program Officer ICDS Dr. Mohamad Ashraf, CPO, CMO, ACD, SDMs, DIO, DWSO, CDPOs, AD-FCS&CA, E.Os and other concerned officials.
