Jammu: A day after report of opening of new liquor shops in both Jammu and Kashmir regions, the Administration issued clarification on Sunday asserting that no policy decision was taken for issuance of fresh liquor license.
“Finance department has not taken any policy decision regarding issuance of fresh liquor licences in unserved areas,” J&K Department of information wrote on micro blogging site.
They further wrote that no list of unserved areas has either been considered or approved and no decision will be taken without participation of stakeholders and due process, adding, “department urges people not to be misled by any half- baked reports in this regard.”
There were reports that J&K Excise Department has written to the Finance Department for approval of opening 67 liquor shops in Kashmir region and 116 in Jammu region, the copy of which went viral on social media.
