Jammu: Government of India Undertaking, the New India Assurance Company (NIA), which has insured more than 22.12 lakh healthcare workers of India who are on the frontline of battle against COVID-19 under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojna (PMGKB ), has nominated Dr. Daleep Pandita, its Senior Divisional Manager as Nodal Officer for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir government has also nominated Ata Ul Munim Tak as its Nodal Officer for settlement of insurance claims under this tailor made comprehensive personal accident insurance cover.
Dr. Pandita stated that NIA provides Rs. 50 lakh COVID-19 insurance cover to all healthcare workers across grades including ASHA workers, paramedics and nurses, who may be in direct contact and care of COVID-19 patients. This insurance scheme, launched by Union Finance Minister, is being funded through health ministry’s National Disaster Response Force ( NDRF ) budget, under which about 75 claims have been lodged so far with NIA.
Team of NIA headed by Dr. Pandita along with NDRF and Jammu and Kashmir government are closely engaged, as a matter of their responsibility, in expeditious settlement of insurance claims under this scheme.
