Srinagar/June,18 : National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Thursday morning called on his party colleague and General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar at his residence at Humhama hieghts on Airport Road Srinagar.
Sources privy to Abdullah’s meeting with his party General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar though told Kashmir Horizon that ” it was just a courtesy call”, but Abdullah’s meeting with Sagar comes a day before the election of new Mayor at Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) necessitate by the dethroning of Junaid Azim Matoo as Mayor SMC early this week. National Conference expelled four corporators from the party after they voted against Junaid Azim Matoo against the whip issued by the party. After loosing the trust Matoo also an old defector of National Conference presently owing allegiance to Peoples Conference had alleged NC of a secret deal with BJP over trust vote at SMC. Interestingly NC General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar was released two days ago after J&K High Court quashed PSA slapped on him months ago when he was under preventive detention along with several other leaders. Sagar it may be recalled here commands great deal of control over majority of the National Conference Corporators at Srinagar Municipal Corporation. A top National Conference leader on conditions of anonymity told Kashmir Horizon ” Party President’s visit to General Secretary’s residence was just a courtesy call after his formal release”.
