Srinagar/June,15: – A teenager of Handwara areas of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district died on Monday at SMHS hospital Srinagar and became the youngest COVID-19 victim in Jammu and Kashmir. With this death the COVID-19 death toll has mounted to 61 in Jammu & Kashmir.
Health officials at SMHS hospital Srinagar said “an 18-year-old covid-19 patient of Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district died on Monday morning at the valley’s top referral hospital in Srinagar”, adding that ” the teenager is youngest of all the 61 COVID-19 in Jammu & Kashmir”.
“The teenager was admitted at the valley’s top referral hospital as a “medico-legal case” with a serious head injury, and died on Monday morning at about 3.00 A.M”, said medical superintendent SMHS hospital, Dr Nazir Choudhary.
“He was admitted on June 12 as a medico-legal case. His swab sample (for the novel coronavirus) was taken next day. He had serious head injuries besides bilateral pneumonia,” Dr Choudhary said, adding, “ his sample was found positive for the deadly virus.”
