COVID-19 In JK: New 156 +ive case takes total tally to 4730, Rajouri resident’s death jumps death toll to 53

Jammu: New 156 positive cases reported on Friday raised the total no of corona virus cases to 4730 and death of a Rajouri man declared a COVID-19 patient at GMC Jammu jumped the death toll to 53.
The Government in its daily bulletin on Friday said that 156 new positive cases of novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), 88 from Jammu division and 68 from Kashmir division, have been reported Friday thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 4730. Also, 01 COVID-19 death have been reported from Jammu division. Moreover, 266 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 55 from Jammu Division and 211 from Kashmir Division.
Jammu and Kashmir on Friday recorded 53rd death due to Coronavirus as one more patient from Rajouri district has died at Government Medical College Jammu. Officials said 65-year-old man from Sialsui village of Rajouri’s Kalakote Tehsil was referred to GMC Jammu six days ago with some injuries. He was later tested positive for novel Coronavirus at GMC Jammu.”Friday morning, the patient who was undergoing treatment from past few days died who was tested positive for covid-19 before few days,” Medical Superintendent of GMC Jammu Dr Darra Singh said.
The bulletin further said that out of 4730 positive cases, 2591 are Active Positive, 2086 have recovered and 53 have died; 06 in Jammu division and 47 in Kashmir division. It also said that out of 254059 test results available, 249329 samples have been tested as negative till June 12, 2020.
Additionally, till date 230505 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 41964 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 31 in Hospital Quarantine, 2591 in hospital isolation and 55738 under home surveillance. Besides, 130128 persons have completed their surveillance period.
Providing district-wise breakup, the Bulletin said that Bandipora has 233 positive cases with 59 Active Positive, 173 recovered (including 08 cases recovered Friday), 01 death; Srinagar has 502 positive cases (including 05 cases reported Friday) with 334 Active Positive, 156 recovered (including 05 cases recovered Friday), 12 deaths; Anantnag district has 483 positive cases (including 01 case reported Friday), with 140 Active Positive, 338 recovered (including 23 cases recovered Friday), 05 deaths; Baramulla has 504 positive cases (including 07 cases reported today) with 330 Active Positive, 164 recovered (including 02 case recovered Friday), 10 deaths; Shopian has 478 positive cases (including 38 cases reported Friday) with 249 Active Positive, 225 recovered (including 54 cases recovered Friday) and 04 deaths; Kupwara has 381 positive cases (including 05 cases reported Friday) with 105 Active Positive, 273 recovered (including 27 cases recovered Friday) and 03 deaths; Budgam has 220 positive cases (including 06 cases reported Friday), with 111 Active Positive and 107 recovered cases (including 27 cases recovered Friday) and 02 deaths; Ganderbal has 59 positive cases with 23 active positive cases and 36 recoveries (including 04 cases recovered Friday); Kulgam has 570 positive cases (including 02 cases reported Friday), with 334 Active Positive and 228 recoveries (including 60 cases recovered Friday) and 08 deaths and Pulwama reported 203 positive cases (including 04 cases reported Friday) with 168 active positive cases and 33 recovered (including 01 case recovered Friday) and 02 deaths.
Similarly, Jammu has 261 positive cases (including 08 cases reported today) with 141 active positive cases and 117 recoveries (including 10 cases recovered Friday) and 03 deaths; Udhampur has 153 positive cases with 115 active positive cases, 37 recovered (including 02 cases recovered today) and 01 death; Samba has 83 positive cases (including 14 cases reported today) with 55 Active Positive and 28 recoveries; Rajouri has 60 positive cases (including 02 cases reported Friday) with 47 active positive cases and 12 recovered and 01 death; Kathua has 149 positive cases (including 26 cases reported today) with 90 Active positive and 59 recovered (including 10 cases recovered Friday); Kishtwar has 22 positive cases (including 01 case reported Friday) with 18 active positive cases and 04 recovered; Ramban has 193 positive cases (including 21 cases reported Friday) with 156 active positive and 37 recoveries (including 14 cases reported Friday); Reasi has 24 positive cases (including 01 case reported Friday) with 13 active positive and 11 recovered (including 01 case recovered Friday), Poonch has 103 positive cases (including 12 cases reported Friday) with 75 active positive and 28 recoveries while Doda has 49 positive cases (including 03 cases reported Friday) with 28 active positive cases and 20 recoveries (including 18 cases recovered Friday) and 01 death.
According to the bulletin, of the total 4730 positive cases in J&K 1709 have been reported as travelers while 3021 as others.
The Bulletin said that the breakup represents districts from which the patients have been traced or are ordinarily residing.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metre from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene.
As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
The bulletin again explained that early detection of COVID-19 can prevent the spread of disease so we need to be responsible for the well-being of ourselves and everyone around us. “Not disclosing symptoms could put life of individuals and their families at risk. In case of symptoms like fever, cough and difficulty in breathing report early. Do not fear, call COVID-19 helpline numbers and seek medical advice”.
Advisory has further exhorted upon the people not to step out of home, unless absolutely necessary. “If you have to move out for unavoidable reasons, ensure that you wear a mask and practice social distancing, personal hygiene and frequent handwashing with soap and water.”
