Advisor Baseer Khan inspects development works in Samba

Jammu: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Khan Friday conducted an extensive tour of district Samba to inspect various development works of Rural Development Department and Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited being executed under MGNREGA, PMAY, IWMP, PMDP-U, PMDP-R and other centrally sponsored schemes.
Secretary RDD, Sheetal Nanda; Managing Director JPDCL Yasha Mudgul; Deputy Commissioner Samba Rohit Khajuria; Director RDD, Executive Engineers of the concerned departments besides senior officers of the concerned department and Sarpanchs and Panchs of villages accompanied the Advisor during the day-long tour.
During the tour, the Secretary RDD and MD JPDCL apprised the Advisor about various developmental works being executed by their concerned department in the district.
He inspected the construction/renovation of pond at Salmeri village to be completed at an estimated cost of 8 lakhs under IWMP in convergence with MGNREGA.
He also inspected the renovation work of Pond at village Sangwal to be done at an estimated cost of 6 lakhs 72 thousand.
Similarly, he inspected the construction of pond to be carried out with an estimated cost of 15.50 lakhs at village Chhajwal.
The Advisor also inspected the development works being executed by PDC for improvement of power distribution network and strengthening of system in rural areas, urban areas and industrial area of the district.
In this regard, he inspected 10 MVA and 2X10 MVA Receiving Stations at Industrial Estate Bari Brahmana. He also inspected the construction work of two new 10 MVA Receiving Stations being constructed near DC Office Samba and Industrial Estate Samba Phase II. The Advisor was informed that these projects are being carried out under different centrally sponsored schemes including PMDP-U, PMDP-R and DDUGJY.
While reviewing the development works, the Advisor said these works pertain to strengthening rural infrastructure and augmenting of power and water supply, conservation of water bodies and irrigation works in rural areas.
The Advisor directed the MD PDC to disconnect all the illegal connections and take strict action against the violators.
He asked the concerned officers to conduct raids on daily basis so that the practices of power theft would end.
The Advisor emphasized upon the officers to focus on wage oriented employment generation so that poor and needy people can work to earn their livelihood which is also the ultimate thought behind initiating these development works under various schemes.
The Advisor gave on spot instructions to the officers of concerned department to do quality work and complete the works under execution in a time bound manner.
He directed the officers to work with zeal to achieve the targets on time ensuring the delivery of the benefits to the rural masses.
The Advisor also interacted with the PRI members to acquaint them with different schemes of various departments under implementation.
He asked PRI members to stay in close touch with the villagers to understand their issues and to keep raising them with relevant authorities.
