Srinagar: Two Army men were killed in two separate incidents in the Valley on Thursday while the other has sustained injuries, officials said.
An Army man died after he slipped and fell into a deep gorge in Chakwali Tulail area of Gurez along the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Official sources said an Army man identified as Subidar Yamaha Kumar, No. JC 542433F of 6 Maratha infantry Regiment slipped and fell down into a deep gorge while he was part of a patrolling party at Rekha forward post of Chakwali Tulail along the (LOC), resulting in his on spot death. They said the body has been shifted to 92 base hospital Badmibagh Srinagar through chopper for further medical formalities
Meanwhile, an Army man was killed while another was critically injured after the vehicle they were traveling in met with an accident and fell into a deep gorge at Ranga pass along Srinagar-Leh highway in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
Officials said an army vehicle in which the food items was being sent to the army units of Leh was on way to Pathankot from Leh. The vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge near Ranga paas sarbal, resulting into the onspot death of an army man and critical injury to his fellow.
Soon after the incident, the injured army man was shifted to Sonamarg hospital for advanced treatment while the body of deceased was shifted to Army cantonment Badmibagh Srinagar.
A senior police officer also confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Karan Singh of Nagrota Jammu while the injured has been identified as Mehraj Khan
