Srinagar/June,8: A gunfight on Monday morning broke out between government forces and the militants in Pinjoora village in Shopian district South Kashmir’s Shopian , police said.
Government forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in the Pinjora village of Shopian, in South Kashmir,Monday morning after receiving specific information about the presence of militants in the area, a police official said.
He said the gunfight broke out in the village after hiding militants fired on the forces personnel who retaliated.The exchange of fire is going on till the last reports came I and further details are awaited.
This is the second encounter in the Shopian district in the past 24 hours. As already reported five Hizbul Mujahideen militants, including a commander of the outfit , were killed in the gunbattle with government forces in the Reban village of the district on Sunday.
