Srinagar/June,8: Two more Covid-19 positive patients including a CRPF trooper died on Monday in Srinagar and with this the COVID-19 death toll has mounted to 43 in Jammu and Kashmir.
Health officials at SKIMS Sour said said that a CRPF man posted in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district died at the top referral hospital. Meanwhile a civilian from Khanyar Srinagar injured in an accident died at Chest Diseases Hospital Srinagar where he was shifted from SMHS hospital Srinagar. Officials said both the deceased had tested positive for COVID-19.
Health officials at SKIMS Soura, said a CRPF man with certain underlying illness was admitted in the hospital on June 4. “His samples were taken and he had tested positive for the virus. His condition deteriorated today morning and he died in the week hours,” sources said. Assistant Commandant and CRPF spokesman for (Ops) in Kashmir Junaid Khan also confirmed the death of the CRPF man, who was posted with the 90 battalion. “He was a bit sick and had tested positive for the virus,” he said. Asked whether the body of the deceased CRPF trooper would be dispatched to his native place, he said “higher ups will take a call on the issue. This is the first Covid death in paramilitary CRPF in Kashmir since the outbreak of pandemic”.
A Srinagar man, who had met with an accident and was first admitted at SMHS, wherefrom he was shifted to CD hospital Srinagar after testing positive, also died Monday morning. Dr Saleem Tak, Medical Superintendent CD hospital said a 35-year-old male died of Covid infection at CD hospital in the wee hours. “He was an accident patient and had transmitted the virus”.
