Srinagar: Down playing rift between two party leaders in the National Conference (NC) former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said both the leaders are entitled to an opinion and disagree with each other.
Both are valued and colleagues and friends and expressed by them in a private capacity change the stand of the party, the NC vice president Omar said.
He said NC remains committed to challenge using all lawful means against what has happened on August 5, when centre scrapped the Article 370 and divided the state into two Union Territories (UTs) besides jailed all leaders of political party leaders, including three former CMs Dr Abdullah, Omar and Mehbooba Mufti.
Omar further said NC is a democratic party and values all shades of opinion within the wider family.
Taking to micro-blogging site twitter Omar said “ @RuhullahMehdi & @tanvirsadiq are both valued colleagues & friends. As far as I’m concerned that are both entitled to an opinion & to disagree with each other”.
He further tweeted “Neither’s views, expressed in a private capacity, change the stand NC has taken in the SC & outside regarding 5th Aug”.
“ I appreciate that people with more time on their hands than usual would like to read more in to this than necessary but that’s just time pass for bored minds. @JKNC_ remains committed to challenging what happened on 5th Aug using all lawful means”, he said.
“Beyond that we are a democratic party & we value all shades of opinion within our wider family though sometimes it’s better to discuss them amongst ourselves before we decide to make them public. I’ve burnt my hands a few times by not following my own advice”, Omar said.
