Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Tuesday witnessed 17th Covid death even as 28 more cases tested positive including three pregnant women. The total number of positive cases in the UT have gone up to 1317.
Health officials said a 55-year-old COVID-19 positive with Cancer history, died at Sher Kashmir Institute of Medical (SKIMS) Soura. With the fresh death, the total number of Covid deaths in J&K have reached 17, of which 15 are from Kashmir and two from Jammu region.
Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura Dr Farooq Jan said 55-year-old, COVID-19 positive patient from Rafiabad, who was Covid positive, died of a cardiac arrest. He said the patient was admitted to hospital for the past few days.
Officials said that in last 24 hours, 28 patients were tested positive for Covid-19 in J&K including 22 from Kashmir division and six from Jammu division.
They said 13 samples were tested positive at CD hospital Srinagar, 9 at SKIMS, 2 at army’s command hospital Udhampur and rest at other private labs.
They further added that among 28 new cases 11 are from Anantnag district, 7 from Kulgam, 2 from Baramulla, one each from Ganderbal and Pulwama in Kashmir division and 2 each from Kuthua and Udhampur and one each from Samba and Rajouri in Jammu division
Officials from SKIMS said that out of 1437 samples tested at SKIMS on Tuesday, 09 were tested positive, among them 6 belong to Kulgam district and one each belong to Anantnag, Pulwama and Rajouri.
They said that among 6 cases from Kulgam, 4 belong to Karewa colony in main town Kulgam including 12, 25 and 45-year-old males and 40 year old female besides 14 and 27-year-old females from Chattabal Kulgam who all have travel history.
The other three include 23-year-old male from Tailwani Anantnag with travel history of Gurgaon, 43 year old male from Rajouri with travel history Delhi and 52 year old female from Reshiepora Pulwama with no travel history.
Dr Salim Khan Nodal officer for Covid-19 at GMC Srinagar said that out of 1006 samples tested at the CD hospital lab on Tuesday, 13 were found positive while as reports of 60 samples are under process and over one thousand samples were received at the Lab.
He added that among 13 new cases, 9 belong to Anantnag district while as 2 are from Baramulla and one each belong to Ganderbal and Kulgam districts.
Among 13 new cases, 3 are pregnant ladies including 33 year old from Kangan Ganderbal, 25 year and 34 year old from Sanglar and Kuthar villages of Anantnag district respectively, he said, adding that the other patients include 41 year old male from Hajabagh Baramulla, 43 year old male from Sopore Baramulla, 24 year old male from Yaripora Kulgam, 29 year old male from Kokernag Anantnag, 30 year old female from Sheikhgund Anantnag, 35 year old female from Nowgam Anantnag, 20 year old male from Harteng Anantnag, 20 year old from Wulzan Anantnag, 22 year old female from Dooru Anantnag and 35 year old male from Katriteng Anantnag.
The pregnant lady from Kangan delivered at LD hospital as an emergency case, he said adding that once her reports came positive for covid-19 after her surgery, she was referred to MCH SKIMS Bemina(Covid hospital) for post-operative management.
Lt Colonel Inam Danish Khan from Army’s Command Hospital Udhampur said that out of 1756 persons tested in last 24 hours at the hospital two travellers one each from Udhampur and Anantnag were found positive. He further added that 1729 samples by pooled testing in last 24 hours while as so far 12220 samples were tested at the hospital.
As per officials figures 247 positive cases including three deaths and 87 recoveries are from Anantnag, 169 including five deaths and 96 recoveries are from Srinagar, 166 including one death and 09 recoveries are from Kulgam, 137 including one death and 128 recoveries are from Bandipora, 121 including 91 recoveries and four deaths are from Baramulla, 109 including 75 recoveries are from Shopian, 101 including 48 recoveries are from Kupwara, 58 including 30 recoveries and one death are from Budgam, 25 including 15 recoveries are from Ganderbal and 18 including 6 recoveries are from Pulwama.
In Jammu division, 47 including 29 recoveries and one death are from Jammu district , 36 including 01 recovery is from Kathua, 28 including 01 death and 19 recoveries are from Udhampur, 24 including 01 recovery is from Ramban, 14 including 06 recoveries from Samba, 08 including 04 recoveries from Rajouri, 03 each from Poonch and Reasi with 01 recovery in Reasi, 02 from Kishtwar including 01 recovery and 01 from Doda.
As per the daily information bulletin 119,155 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while as 31,524 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 653 persons are in hospital isolation while as 87 persons are under hospital quarantine.
According to the bulletin, 67,319 persons have completed surveillance period and 19,555 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 96,826 samples are available.
Out of 96,826 the number of samples tested negative stands at 95,509 while as 1317 have been tested positive, among them 653 are active and 647 persons have recovered and 17 persons have died
