New Delhi/May,11: The Supreme Court on Monday directed the constitution of a high powered committee under the chairmanship of Union Home Secretary to look into the legality of the restrictions on high speed 4 G mobile internet services in Jammu and Kashmir.
Announcing the judgment on a petition filed to challenge restrictions on 4 G high speed Internet services in Jammu and Kashmir by Private Schools Association Jammu and Kashmir the Supreme Court directed that the legality of restrictions on high speed Internet services in Jammu and Kashmir shall be headed by a high powered committee headed by Home Secretary with Secretary Communication and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary as it’s members.
The he Supreme said that the order passed by the Government were non-reflective of application of mind, but observed that being a protector of rights, more was required.
Despite procedural and substantive violations which curtail rights of residents of Jammu and Kashmir, the Government yet again comes out of it unscratched.
Chairman Private Schools Association Jammu and Kashmir (PSAJK) said “there was an indication by the Judges to restore speed to regions, we will have to wait and see what the Government does. This is not over yet.”
