Transferring service matters of JK employees to CAT Chandigarh ‘unjustified’, revoke the order : JKReTTF

Srinagar/May,1: The Jammu and Kashmir Rehbar e Taleem Teachers Forum (JKReTTF) has strongly reacted to the order of the Union Ministry of Personal, Public Grievances and Pensions regarding the transfer of all the service matters of the employees of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) Chandigarh Bench.
In a statement issued here on Friday, the JKReTTF Chairman Farooq Ahmad Tantray said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir UT have a fundamental right to have access to justice at Srinagar and Jammu wings of JK High Court but, unfortunately the notification issued by the DOBT is a big blow to the justice system in the Union Territory.
JKReTTF Chairman said that there are thousands of cases related to service matters pending in Srinagar and Jammu wings of Jammu and Kashmir High Court. “These cases are mainly pertaining to low paid employees – daily wagers, casual labourers, NB workers and Class IV employees of Jammu and Kashmir. These employees will not afford to visit Chandigarh to pursue their cases and get justice keeping in view the the severe financial implications”. Mr Farooq Ahmad Tantray said that the litigants will be subjected to undue harassment as it would not be possible for every employee to visit Chandigarh for pursuing cases.
Tantray demanded that the notification order should be withdrawn in the larger interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, and a regular bench of the CAT established at Srinagar and Jammu.
