Advisor Khan interacts with members of local bodies, Panchayats, civil society in Rajouri

Advisor Khan reviews COVID-19 control measures, service delivery in Kathua

Rajouri: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Ahmed Khan on Tuesday visited Rajouri and interacted with MC Rajouri, BDC chairpersons, President Beopar Mandal, Civil Society members, religious and political leaders of the district.
Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Mohammad Nazir Sheikh, DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range Vivek Gupta, Senior Superintendent of Police Chandan Kohli, Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Sher Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police Liaqat Choudhary and Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Mohd Ashraf were present on the ocassion.
The participants, while speaking on the occasion, appreciated the role of district administration in containing the transmission of Corona Virus. They also projected their issues and demands before the Advisor including augmentation of health infrastructure, evacuation of stranded students and labourers in other district and states, facilitation of seasonal migrants, upgradation of PHC Thanamandi, distribution of ration among persons without ration card holders and various other issues.
They also praised Central Government’s decision of extending the lockdown across India to another three weeks till May 3 saying that this will help stop further spread of the pandemic.
The civil society members said a six-week nationwide lockdown to facilitate effective physical distancing, coupled with expansion of core public health measures such as detection, isolation and tracing contact of COVID19 positive people, helped greatly in breaking the transmission and that’s why the death toll here is lower than other countries. They also hailed the Government for launching number of welfare schemes.
Advisor, while speaking on the occasion, said the UT Government is working tirelessly to ensure convenience of the general public and best possible efforts are being made to mitigate their sufferings. He said the government has started bringing back stranded students, labourers from outside J&K for which additional screening and surveillance teams are being deployed. He added that to ensure convenience of the nomads during their movement to upper reaches amid COVID-19 pandemic, permits are being issued and renewed.
He said it has been noticed that some people enter the district through traditional migration routes and there is a dire need to identify these routes through holding of Nakas at specific locations so that the entry points can be strengthened and no person is allowed in the district without valid pass.
Advisor instructed for sealing of all entry and exit points and asked the concerned to restrict the public movement so that the individuals coming from the affected areas can be restrained.
He assured the participants that their genuine demands and issues will be redressed in a time bound manner. He also said Government alone can’t fight with the Coronavirus pandemic and the public cooperation is of utmost importance in beating this invisible enemy.
Among others present were Kuldeep Raj Gupta, Ex VC PAB, Administrator Aquaf Shahdara Sharief, Abdul Quyoom Dar, Chairman MC Rajouri, Mohd Arif, president MC Thanamandi,Shakeel Mir,VC MC Rajouri, Bharat Bushan, President Beopar Mandal, Rajesh Gupta, BDC Chairperson Rajouri, Choudhary Darbar, BDC Chairperson Doongi, Riaz Ahmed, BDC Chairperson Qila Darhal, Rajinder Sharma, Rajinder Gupta Subsah Sharma, Khurshid Mir Janum, Shafat Mir, Sajjad Tariq Sarpanch, Karan Saryal, Sarpanch Samreen Khan, Kapil Saryalbers of Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and other members of civil society.
