Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday claimed to have arrested a militant and his associate in Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Police officials said a joint team of Army, Police and CRPF laid a naka near Namla Bridge Uri where they apprehended one militant and his associate, saying that arms and ammunition were recovered from their possession.
On preliminary enquiry, officials said that the duo has been identified as Zubair Ahmad Tantry@ AbuBakar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Tantry of Baharampora Sopore, an active militant of LeT outfit and his associate Bilal Ahmad Rather, son of Ghulam Mohammad Rather of Sahura Uri.
“On search, a huge cache of arms and ammunitions and other incriminating material was recovered,” officials said, adding that a case under FIR number 49/2020 under various provisions of Indian Arms Act, Indian Explosives Act and Unlawful Activity (Prevention) Act has been registered in Police Station Uri and investigation has been started
