Srinagar : Bandipora district on Wednesday recorded another major jump in COVID-19 cases after six more persons including two minor girls were tested positive, taking the total number of cases in the district to 97.
An official said six more cases including two minor girls all belong to same family were reported positive for Covid-19 from Gund-Qaiser area of Bandipora block.
“Total number of cases in the district now stands at 97 of which 79 are active while 18 patients have recovered so far. A patient has also died due to Covid-19 in Gund-Jahengeer village of Hajin,” he said.
He said that in red zone areas more than 3971 people have been kept under surveillance including those who are either in government-established quarantine facilities or in home isolation.
Gund-Jahengeer is the worst affected after an elderly man died of Covid-19 on April 7. Since then there has been a spurt in Covid-19 cases in the village and till date around 41 persons have been tested positive for the virus in this village alone.
After Gund-Jahengeer, Gund-Qaiser village has seen highest number of Covid-19 cases in the district making it another hotspot for the deadly virus.
An official said administration is fully alert to deal with eventualities. “In red zone areas we will ensure door to door screening and testing and no person will be left out”
