New Delhi/ Washington, April 21: The United States is set to temporarily suspend immigration amid rising number of coronavirus cases, President Donald Trump has tweeted.
“In light of the attack from the Invisible Enemy, as well as the need to protect the jobs of our GREAT American Citizens, I will be signing an Executive Order to temporarily suspend immigration into the United States!,” Donald Trump tweeted this morning. Donald Trump, who seeks seeks re-election in November, has been under fire for his response to the health crisis. Earlier, he had lashed out at the World Health Organization for its early handling of the outbreak and cut US funding for the global health body.
“We have been warning from day one that this is a devil that everyone should fight,” he said, adding that “there is nothing hidden from the US” about the pandemic.
The highly contagious coronavirus has now killed more than 42,000 people in the United States, the country with the highest number of COVID-19 deaths. Worldwide, nearly 2.5 million coronavirus cases have been confirmed, the number of deaths have crossed 169,900. About two-thirds of victims are from Europe.
