Working in self help groups these women have stopped their regular works to stitch face masks after getting approval from district administration. Around 80 SHG members in Kishtwar have started making masks as per mask manual issued by GOI.
District Nodal Officer JKRLM Kishtwar, Mohmad Saleh Bhat informed that SHG members are working overtime to supply adequate number of masks. He said 80 women SHG members of different SHGs divided into different groups are manufacturing masks.
Women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) are also working overtime to manufacture the products in bulk in all the blocks.
The SHG members were suggested as the institution that should take the lead and play significant role in promoting Social Inclusion and Social Development (SISD) as is happening in JKRLM, where several initiatives are being undertaken to reach the most excluded and also addressing issues related to food security, health and sanitation in the community. An activity has also been started called “Ek Muthi Chaul” in which a handful of rice is collected by the SHG members during Covid-19 combat battle, which is donated to vulnerable families in the district.
