Srinagar: Three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) men were on Saturday killed and two others were injured in a militant attack on a naka party in the apple township of Sopore in north Kashmir district of Baramulla.
Official sources told UNI that militants fired at a security force checkpoint near Ahad Bab crossing in Sopore. “Five CRPF jawans were critically injured in the attack,” they said, adding the wounded were immediately taken to a hospital where three of them succumbed.
They said the militants managed to escape from the spot, adding reinforcement has been rushed to the area and a search operation has been launched to nab the attackers. “Checkpoints have been established within 5 km radius of the spot,” they said, adding all the vehicles are being checked before allowing forward.
