Srinagar: To protecting the people from unfair trade practices of some traders, the department of Legal Metrology has intensified market checking in various parts of the Valley.
Sharing details the Joint Controller, Legal Metrology department, Kashmir, said seventeen complaints were received on official land line number and through email and the department conducted intensive market checking during which 275 business outlets dealing with Kiryana, Vegetables, medicines, L. P. G were inspected.
Eleven traders were found violating the provisions of Legal Metrology Act, 2009 and a penalty of Rs. 11,300/- was imposed on defaulters on spot for overcharging for Masks, Santizers and Other essentials.
