LG Mathur flags off Mobile medical unit in Leh,  MMU sets off to provide specialist  services in villages

Leh/April,18: In the wake of novel coronavirus pandemic, the nationwide lockdown in India has been extended till May 3. The UT Administration is taking all possible measures to provide basic facilities to the people of Ladakh during the lockdown period. On the directions of the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, an important step was initiated by the Health Department of Ladakh to start a Mobile Medical Unit to cater to the medical needs of people across Ladakh region. Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Shri R.K. Mathur today flagged off from Raj Niwas two teams of this Mobile Medical Units comprising of 8 specialists doctors of SNM Hospital, Leh to Igoo and Nimoo villages. Commissioner/ Secretary Health, Rigzin Samphel, Director Health, Ladakh, Phuntsog Angchuk and CMO, Leh Motup Dorjey were present on the occasion.
Lt. Governor said that the MMU will not only help provide medical services of specialist doctors to the people in their villages but would facilitate the health department to track all the areas for COVID-19 screening. He emphasized focusing on far-flung areas like Changthang, Zanskar, Trans Singge-la and similar areas in Kargil district where people do not get enough coverage. LG Mathur appreciated Director Health, CMO, Leh and the entire team of doctors and health workers for their dedicated services in the battle against COVID-19. He said that their pro-activeness will ensure health services for all and help control the spread of novel coronavirus. He exhorted them to keep up the good work and wished them luck in their endeavours.
