Doda: Two militants were on Friday killed during a gun battle with government forces in Kishtwar district of Jammu province.
Officials said a gunfight broke out in Dachan forest area of Kishtwar district after government forces launched a cordon and search operation on a specific information about the presence of militants in the area.The slain militants has been Identified as Basharat Hussain & Ashiq Hussain. Police claimed that both the slain militants were responsible for killing a special police officer and critically injuring his colleague in Kishtwar district early this week, officials said.
On last Monday, the suspects attacked the SPOs with axes in Tander village and escaped into the jungle.The police had been on their trail since and located them on Friday.
Additional deployments were rushed and a gunbattle ensued, a police officer said,more details will follow.
The official said the slain militants are believed to have joined the militant ranks and carried out the attack to lay their hands on their weapons.
This was the first militant attack in Kishtwar district this year.Kishtwar was rocked by a series of militant attacks in November 2018, when it saw its first militant attack in over a decade
