Sanitization in all areas our priority, will personally monitor no area is left out: City Municipal Comr Sgr

Srinagar: Commissioner Srinagar Municipality (SMC), Gazanfar Ali Thursday said SMC is carrying out sanitization works at massive level and is ensuring that all the areas are disinfected to contain the spread of coronavirus.
“Sanitization of all the areas, equally, is SMC’s priority and I will personally monitor and ensure no area is left-out,” the Commissioner said.
The Commissioner made these remarks after receiving a representation from some Corporators, informing that certain areas were given less priority with regards to sanitization works.
In this regard, the Commissioner Thursday visited Laway Poraalong with special team of field functionaries equipped with protective gears and specialized machines to monitor the sanitization drive. He was accompanied by the concerned Corporator.
On the occasion, chemical mixture was sprayed in various areas including Gulshan Colony, Astaan Mohalla, Ganie Mohalla, Khar Mohalla, Jamia Masjid Gund Hassi Bhat, Immam Bara, Usman Abad, Old LawayPora and Girls High School Laway Pora.
Meanwhile, Medical Superintendent, Government Psychiatric Diseases Hospital, Badamwari has appreciated the works carried by SMC in the ongoing COVID pandemic.
As per the communication addressed to Commissioner SMC, the MS has extended its gratitude to SMC for sanitizing the hospital premises. He has also requested the Commissioner SMC for installation of a decontamination tunnel in the hospital.
Pertinently, SMC has installed decontamination tunnels at all major hospitals including Bone and Joint hospital, JLNM hospital, CD hospital, LD hospital, GB Panth, JVC, Kashmir Nursing Home, SMHS and two tunnels were installed at SKI Besides, sanitization of hospitals surroundings by the corporation is a regular affair to contain spread of Coronavirus.
