Srinagar: Terming the decision of the Prime Minister Narinder Modi , to extend the countrywide lockdown , as a right step towards containing spread of dreaded Coronavirus , Chairman PDF Hakeem Yaseen Tuesday said there was no other effective alternative available in the entire world , to fight the Novel Coronavirus except maintaining social distancing that too religiously .He has made a fervent appeal to the people to bear with the government at this crucial time and stay at home , notwithstanding the fact that continuity in lockdown has put a cross section of the society into a terrible but unavoidable socio-economic and psychological situation .
In a statement issued on Tuesday , Hakeem Yaseen has strongly supported the decision of the Prime Minister to extend the countrywide lockdown aimed at to flatten the curve of Coronaviru in the country adding that in absence of a vaccine against the killer virus , social distancing has been found as a potent weapon to check spread of the disease , in maximum parts of the world that have been affected by the virus . He has hoped that the extension in the lockdown would prove beneficial for the whole country including the Union Territory of the Jammu and Kashmir. However, Hakeem Yaseen has urged the government to device viable ways and means to address some unseen humanitarian and social issues , that have arisen due to the lockdown , thereby putting a large chunk of people into great hardships , including seasonal labourers , students , shawl vendors and pilgrims of Jammu and Kashmir .
In this connection, he made a special mention of the pilgrims who have returned from Iran and are still stuck in Jasalmeer despite completing the mandatory quarantine period. Similarly there many students stuck in the Allen coaching institute , Kota in Rajasthan who needed to be evacuated immediately. ” There hundreds of students and seasonal labourers of Kashmir stuck in different states of of the country including HP, UP, MP , who are at the brink of starvation due to non availability of food and shelter,” Hakeem Yaseen has said while urging the government to device some kind of viable strategy for
their gradual passage and evacuation to their respective homes without affecting the lockdown protocol. He has urged the central and the state governments to make adequate boarding and lodging arrangements for all the stranded labourers students and pilgrims till they are evacuated to their homes and hearths.
