Srinagar: J&K Private Schools Coordination Committee has appealed to Lt. Governor J&K UT G C Murmu for the restoration of the 4G internet services in J&K division to help students take online classes during lockdown period.

In a statement issued to KNS, President of JKPSCC Showkat Mohammad Chowdhary said lockdown has affected the studies of the students badly and there is no way-out but to provide services to the students online.

Chowdhary said the current Covid-19 pandemic has to be fought by lockdown and social distancing but at the same time administration should ensure that the studies of the students are not affected.

Chowdhary further said schools have been doing their best to provide online classes, worksheets and other other study material to the students “but low speed internet is hampering their efforts”.

“We know only lockdown is necessary to fight spread of Covid 19 pandemic but we should also ensure that students do not suffer academically. We have various means to achieve our goals of providing services to the students at their homes if high speed internet is restored,” he said.

Chowdhary said Covid-19 has taught the world a bigger lesson that better health care, proficient health experts and highly educated population can help the nation in times of pandemics.

“However, if we are not able to provide quality education to the students, we won’t be able to have quality health care system or intellectuals in future. Best investment of any nations is investment in education system,” he said.

Chowdhary also appealed to President Apni Party Altaf Buhkhari to use his good rapport with the Centre for the restoration of the 4G services.

“Altaf Bukhari sahab has also remained as Education Minister and can understand how important it is for students to have internet services under lockdown. We also appeal him to ensure that 4G is restored forthwith so that private schools can effectively use it for online classes to the students.”(KNS)
