Srinagar: In view of the raging Covid-19 pandemic and as per the directions of the concerned higher authorities, J&K Khadi and Village Industries Board mobilized its unit holders and Khadi Institutions to ensure production of cotton masks as per the laid down specifications, for their further procurement by District Administration.
Besides, on the request of the District Administration of various districts, the Board has roped in its tailoring unit holders for stitching up masks at district level. To maintain close liaison with District administration and to ensure production of masks, the Board has designated its district officers as Nodal officers who are working round the clock for time-bound completion of assigned job.
In its endeavor to rise up to this difficult situation, so far, 21000 masks have been supplied to District Administration, Army, BSF and local population.
Furthermore, thirty (30) KVIB unit holders have received supply order for production of more than six lac masks from various District Administrations. Additionally, Khadi Institutions are also providing working capital and raw material for manufacturing masks.
