Budgam: The Department of Social Forestry under the supervision of DFO, Budgam, Tanveer Ahmad Parray kick started drive for axing of female poplar trees, here Monday.
The drive started from DC office campus and was organized under the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Budgam, Tariq Hussain Ganai, in pursuance of the J&K High court directions.
On the occasion Range Officer, Maqsood Ahmad and Trade Union President, Abdul Majeed Parray were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, the DFO said female poplar trees producing pollens has been considered hazardous for human health by the health experts and in pursuance of the J&K High court directions, the department has started axing of these trees.
He said support and cooperation from the general public is needed to take the drive to its logical end.
