Srinagar/April,5: Chief Engineer Power Development Department Kashmir has in a statement issued on Sunday said that Prime Minister’s call for 9 minute “switch off, light candles” call at 9.00 P.M in the evening today is an appeal for switching off only residential lights but not the main switches of the residential buildings and all essential services are exempted.
In a statement issued on Sunday morning, the Chief Engineer Power Development Department Kashmir Er. Aijaz Ahmad said “as per the decision in video conference meeting of MoP with all State Secretaries,the Prime Minister has appealed to switch off only” residential lights” from 9 pm to 9:09 pm on 5.4.20″, adding that ” the electricity grid is robust and stable to handle this variation in demand and loss and all electrical appliances can remain operational during this period.People have been asked not to switch off from the main switch”.
The Chief Engineer PDD Kashmir in his statement also said that street lights and lights in all essential services such as hospitals, police stations , public utilities etc will remain on during this period
