DC G’bal distributes masks at Industrial estate

Ganderbal: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal along with Additional Deputy commissioner, Farooq Ahmad Baba Saturday visited Industrial Estate Ganderbal and distributed masks among the labourers who are working in different units at the estate, engaged in manufacturing of essential commodities.
Interacting with people, on the occasion, the DC said the district administration is making sustained efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and to provide relief to the migrant labourers, destitute besides ensuring continuous supply of commodities and has put in place a robust mechanism for this purpose.
Regarding stock position the DC said there is no dearth of essential commodities in the district and district administration has started distribution of advance ration of two month to the people at their doorsteps to maintain social distance.
He appreciated the frontline workers for their role in combating the Pandemic. He said adequate life protecting gears like PPE kits, masks, sanitizers have been made available to all the line departments and officials, in the district.
He said the district administration has dedicated District Hospital to Covid-19 and all routine OPDs have been closed and additional OPD facility has been made available at Wellness Centre, Saloora, so that people may not suffer.
The DC reiterated that there is no need to panic as all requisite steps are being taken to tackle any eventuality. He appealed people to observe complete lockdown and to cooperate with the administration.
Notably, the district is under lockdown and strict restrictions are in place to contain the spread of the Corona virus and people are being appealed to follow advisories and stay home to break the chain of Corona virus infection.
