India’s new domicile law for JK open violation of UN resolution: Pak FM Qureshi

Islamabad: Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Friday criticised India’s new domicile law, calling it baseless and in complete violation of existing United Nations resolutions.
“While the entire world is at war with a global pandemic, India is taking baseless steps, which are open violations of international laws and UN resolutions. The entire Kashmiri leadership is under house arrest while thousands of Kashmiri youngsters are behind bars in Indian jails,” Qureshi said.
The top diplomat underscored that during such a difficult time, when there is a need to provide food items and medicines, India is amending its domicile laws.
The amendment in the law of obtaining a domicile is actually an agenda of changing the population ratio, which they want to achieve, he added.
The foreign minister further said that the entire Kashmiri leadership and Pakistan have jointly rejected the move.
“We have informed the United Nations about this illegal and unconstitutional step and have demanded to take immediate notice of it,” Qureshi said.
The UN secretary-general assured that he will review the draft of the new rules.
The foreign minister said the new law is a controversial step, on the same lines as the citizenship amendment law and cautioned that the situation in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir is likely to deteriorate if India is not stopped.
