Kulgam/April,4 : Two militants were on Saturday morning killed in an ongoing gunfight in Khul Batpora locality of Damhal area in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
Officials said that on specific inputs about the presence of militants,joint teams of 34 RR and a local unit of the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu & Kashmir police launched a search operation in the area but as the search operation sleuths reached the suspected spot, hiding militants fired triggering an encounter in retaliation. During initial exchange of fire two unidentified militants were killed and firing has stopped however operation is still on, the officials said.
As already reported already two civilians were killed by unknown gunmen in the area just two days back . Police had said that they were killed by militants. Interestingly this is first encounter in Kulgam police district after a gap of around 11 months
