DC G’bal takes stock of preparedness, measures to contain the spread of COVID-19

Ganderbal: To take stock of preparedness and measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the district, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal, Thursday chaired a meeting with the concerned officers at Mini Secretariat, Ganderbal.

ADC, Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmad Baba, ASP, Ganderbal, CPO, Ganderbal, SDM, Kangan, CMO, Ganderbal, Tehsildars and other officers and officials were present in the meeting.

The DC was informed about the Steps taken and implemented on ground for containing the COVID-19 infection in the district.

Meeting discussed the measures taken for contact tracing, arrangements at Isolation COVID-19 Hospital and Quarantine Centers, ration distribution, free ration to migrant laborers, functioning of District Control Room and surveillance teams in detail.

The DC   appreciated the role of field functionaries for their hard work to tackle the situation arising due to Corona Virus in the district by way of providing essential commodities at the door steps of the people. He also appreciated the committee members constituted for leading from the forefront in the fight against the deadly virus and added that it is important to follow the advisories and directions issued for Corona virus.

While reviewing the functioning of surveillance teams, the District Control Room was stressed to take follow-up of the cases forwarded to the surveillance teams.

The Deputy Commissioner also sought details about tracing of persons who have come in contact with the Tablighi Jamaat persons. He urged the Surveillance teams to re-double efforts to ensure that the entire list is checked and action as per health protocol is taken accordingly.

The Medical Superintendent of District Hospital, declared Isolation Facility (100 bedded) for COVID-19 briefed the meeting about the arrangements being put in place at the facility. The DC urged him to ensure that all facilities are made available as per the directions issued for COVID-19, to the Covid-19 patients.

While reviewing the progress on advance two-month ration distribution in the district, the AD Food informed that out of 33215 quintals of Rice and 2400 LPG cylinders, 15336 quintals of rice and 1200 LPG cylinders are being distributed among the beneficiaries, he also informed the meeting that sufficient stock of other essential commodities is available in the district.

The Tehsildars were directed to intensify market checking in their respective areas to keep check on profiteering, hoarding, black marketing and other unfair trade practices of essentials commodities.

The committees identified for the arrangements at Administrative Quarantine centers, briefed the meeting about the facilities being made available there. The DC directed the concerned to keep generator available as power backup at all quarantine centers.

The DC also impressed upon the officers to be proactive, vigilant and cooperate with each other to tackle any situation warning that no lapse will be tolerated in this regard.
