Covid-19 patient with a long travel history dies at Chest Diseases Hospital Srinagar, 2 more test positive

Srinagar: Kashmir witnessed first death due to lethal Coronavirus infection on Thursday. Covid-19 patient, an inhabitant of Sopore town who was presently living at Hyderpora Srinagar was tested positive on Wednesday. Head of Department, Chest Disease Hospital, Dr Naveed said that despite hard efforts, the patient died in the hospital early morning. He was 65 and was having travel history.
The funeral of the deceased 65-year-old businessman, took place on in North Kashmir’s Sopore town of Baramulla district.
Witnesses said that over 2 dozen people were allowed to participate in his funeral prayers of the deceased which took place at his native village in Sopore near Guru Petrol Pump.
“His cask was carried in by men dressed in protective gear, while the relatives of the deceased wore masks,” witnesses said.
The deceased had returned from New Delhi while according to hospital records he had also gone to Andoman and Nicobar Island to participate in a religious event. He according to doctors had developed symptoms of pneumonia as soon as he returned from Delhi where he had attended a Tableegi Jamaat meeting.
They said that he was admitted to the hospital barely two days back. An established businessman, he is survived by three daughters and a son-all settled.
Authorities have identified and admitted at least four more cases who reported with Coronavirus after attending a religious meeting in Andhra Pradesh. They are all from a Bandipora village.
Meanwhile, two more were tested positive at JLN Memorial Hospital on Thursday. Government Spokesperson, Rohit Kansal informed that two more case were tested positive in Srinagar. They are siblings. One is 7 years old and another 8 months old baby. The siblings are grandchildren of a confirmed Coronavirus case who hail from Natipora Srinagar. This man was the fellow-passenger of the first female Covid-19 patient of Srinagar and has a travel history to Saudi Arabia.
There were 10 positive cases in Kashmir while one patient after testing positive has already died. Thirty-eight reports are still awaited while one patient has already recovered. 379 samples have been collects while out of them 341 were tested negative. Over all there are total 12 positive cases of Coronavirus in whole Jammu and Kashmir.
